Hi, I'm Tammi

Psychotherapist/Counsellor

My goal is to empower others in their healing journey, through the provision of effective treatments in a safe therapeutic space. I believe that with the right support and treatment, people are able to build the confidence in themselves to utilise their own inner resources and create a life they want to live.

I am an experienced Psychotherapist with over 10 years in community practice. I have worked with a range of presenting concerns, including anxiety, depression, addiction, substance misuse, grief/loss, trauma/PTSD, identity & self-esteem, attachment disorders, & life transitions.

I have a particular interest and background in addiction and trauma,  and in working with LGBTQI+ and neurodiverse communities.

Qualifications:

Graduate Diploma Psychological Science - ACAP

Masters of Counselling and Psychotherapy - ACAP

Certified Registered Practicing Psychotherapist with the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA)

The wild is an integral part of who we are. Walking forward and facing the shadows, stumbling on fears in the alleyways of our minds, we can find the confidence again. Once more we can acknowledge a reality that is unlimited, finding our true self, a wild spirit, free and eager to explore the extent of our potential, free to love ourselves absolutely.

About Therapy

Whether brief or long-term, the most important part of any therapeutic encounter is the relationship that exists between the people involved, therefore my approach is to provide a safe, compassionate, and authentic space for the client to feel heard and understood, allowing them the opportunity to reflect on their own ability to enact meaningful change in their lives.

I work from an holistic and integrative approach, drawing on a combination of modalities, based on the presenting concerns of the client and identified goals. Modalities can include somatic-approaches, reconnection of the mind-body system, internal family systems and process work, CBT and schema therapy, and narrative therapy, amongst others.

Psychotherapy

Psychotherapeutic interventions aim to help individuals understand their feelings, thoughts, and behaviors, providing tools to cope with life's challenges.  Various techniques used include :

  • Cognitive-behavioural therapies

  • Internal Family Systems (Parts work)

  • Narrative therapy

  • Attachment-oriented therapies

  • Psychoeducation

  • Interpersonal therapy

Somatic Therapy

Somatic therapy is a type of therapy that focuses on the relationship between mind and body. It recognises that our emotions and experiences can be stored in our body, leading to tension and discomfort. Through techniques like body awareness, movement, and breath, somatic therapy helps individuals release this stored tension and trauma. This process can promote healing, reduce stress, and improve overall emotional well-being.
